This is where permeable paving comes into its own. You can opt for materials that allow water to drain through into the ground below, as well as laying the paving out so that there are bigger gaps between the slabs. This will help support the passage of water.
2. Self-binding gravel
One of the cheapest options for patios, driveways and other hard landscaped areas of the garden is gravel… but you can take it to the next level by opting for a self-binding blend that provides the natural look of loose gravel without the spread, sink or shift.
This is a semi-permeable surface, so will help reduce surface water runoff, it’s low maintenance, suitable for pushchairs, bicycles and wheelchairs, and it looks great!
