With the country in lockdown and the weather showing a vast improvement over the last few days, no doubt you’re all spending as much time out in the garden as you can right now.
This could be the perfect time for you to cast a critical eye over your outdoor spaces to see if there are any areas that could be improved upon. As lovely as a perfectly manicured lawn and flourishing flower beds are, you also shouldn’t forget about patio plants and flowers, as these can really help to bring your garden to life.
When deciding which plants to buy for your patio, think about what kind of plants you want to grow, whether you want some edible plants, what you want your garden to smell like and so on.
If you have a lot of shade, you might find that something like hostas are the perfect plant for your outside spaces. You can put these in pots and other containers, or you can plant them in the ground instead to help mask the hard edges of any paving you may have.
Given that we’re not supposed to be going out unless absolutely essential, you could start thinking about growing your own crops so you don’t have to go to the shops as often. Potatoes, cherry tomatoes and kale can all be grown in containers, so bear this in mind if you are keen to go down this route.
And with summer just around the corner, you could consider putting some cacti and succulents out on the patio, really creating a garden with an interesting and exotic twist to it.
