Rent Out Your Driveway This Summer!

If you’re looking to make a little bit of extra cash this summer and happen to have the driveway space, why not take a leaf out of some Weymouth locals’ books and rent out your driveway as parking spaces for tourists heading to Dorset for some sun, sea, sand and surf.

According to the Dorset Echo, since lockdown restrictions were eased, people have been flocking to the coast – no doubt, in large part, also thanks to the spate of lovely weather we’ve been having.

And figures from YourParkingSpace, (which allows landlords and homeowners to rent unused parking spaces, as well as driveways), show a 320 per cent increase in bookings since lockdown.

By renting out their driveways, it seems that people in Weymouth are raking in average monthly earnings of £57 – so it could prove to be quite a lucrative little money spinner for you if you do live in a tourist hotspot.

In Brighton, you could earn £162 a month, while people in Bournemouth and Worthing make an average of £92 and £78 respectively.

YourParkingSpace’s Harrison Woods said that while it’s a good way for residents earn some extra income, it’s is “also a good opportunity for visitors to possibly save on parking charges as driveways can be cheaper than traditional car parks while also providing more social distancing room for the vehicle’s occupants”.

Of course, you need to make sure your driveway is ready to welcome lots of visitors, so get in touch with LW Landscapes for help with driveways in Chester and the north-west. Our services include proper installation, remodelling and maintenance.
